PUTTING OUR FAITH INTO ACTION
“Everyone can be great because everyone can serve. You don’t have to have a college degree to serve. You don’t even have to make your subject and your verb agree… You only need a heart full of grace…a soul generated by love.”
—Martin Luther King, Jr.
United Methodists have believed, from the beginning, that each of us is called to participate in the outreaching ministry of Jesus Christ. John Wesley called the early Methodists to live out their faith by “doing good of every possible sort, and, as far as possible, to all [people]” (The General Rules of the Methodist Church).
Putting our faith into action is at the very heart of our Christian calling.
By volunteering to serve through Rayne every person in the church has an opportunity to serve and live their calling more faithfully.
Sunday Morning Worship Acolytes
“Jesus said: ‘I am the light of the world’” (John 8:12). The presence of the light reminds us of Jesus coming into our world and into our lives. The light is carried into the worship service as a symbol of Jesus coming into the presence of the worshiping community. Children and youth normally serve as our acolytes.
Dishing Up Love (Dish Cleaning)
Rayne seeks to welcome all everyday. Sundays are special – that with Worship we fellowship with one another. Refreshments can make us feel at home and are important. Rayne would like to take our hospitality a step further by serving our refreshments with real cups and dishes. This also would improve the impact we make on the environment. To do this, we need people to volunteer for 30 minutes to help wash and dry dishes before and after worship on Sundays.

Comfort Food Cook Teams
Providing meals for our neighbors is the very essence of spreading God’s love. The two Rayne Cook Teams take turns providing the meals that are served at The Good Samaritan Meal Ministry at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.
